Motion/Walking System
Motion / walking system that allows to simulate movement of manikin limbs, reproducing the convective air movement and clothing air gab change that occur during physical activity for more realistic testing under dynamic conditions.
The walking system adds controlled movement to the arms and legs of the manikin, recreating the convective air exchange and clothing ventilation (“pumping”) that occur when a person is active. This makes it possible to evaluate clothing, protective equipment and thermal environments under dynamic conditions rather than only in a static standing or seated posture.
The system works with both thermal and sweating manikins, so dynamic testing can include the effects of perspiration and evaporative heat loss as well as dry heat loss. As with all PT manikins, skin temperature and heat loss continue to be measured accurately across all zones while in motion, allowing direct comparison between static and dynamic test results. Movement speed and range can be adjusted to represent different activity levels.
