Body part manikins
The thermal manikins from PT is based on solid scientific research and state of the art technology, designed to imitate human thermal behaviour and evaluate thermal comfort.
The body part manikins are special, stand-alone body forms based on the same well proven technology as the full size manikins manikins. Whereas full body manikins are required for evaluating thermal comfort, individual bodyparts are applicable to the analysis of clothing and wearables such as helmets, masks, gloves, shoes etc.
Standard PT body part manikins include a foot, a hand and a head – all of which can be both heating and/or sweating, and configured with the number and location of thermal zones required for the specific research application.
In addition to the standard body part manikins, PT is also makes customized body part manikins for special applications. For example, PT has developed special customized thermal body parts for testing new medical wearables such as hearing aids and wristbands against peak exposure of heat and salty sweat from the human body.
Capabilities:
- Simulates human body heat and (if applicable) sweating
- Evaluates thermal comfort
- Calculates thermal resistance of wearables
- Calculates evaporative properties (if sweating).
Models:
- Head/torso) manikin with 2 – 12 customized thermal zones. Head manikin mounted as a stand-alone part or placed on a thermal torso providing additional natural convective heating. Sweating system is optional.
- Hand/arm manikin with 2 – 12 customized thermal zones. Adult sized hand (and lower arm) manikin with screw inserts for easy mounting on a rack or similar.
- Foot/leg manikin with 2 – 12 customized thermal zones. Thermal foot manikin sized 42/43 (EU) with multiple options for rack or plate mounting.
