Comfort sensor
The comfort sensor provides a cost-effective and flexible assessment of operative/equivalent temperatures and thermal comfort in cars, buildings etc.
The comfort sensor provides a cost-effective and flexible assessment of operative/equivalent temperatures and thermal comfort in cars, buildings etc.
The sensor can be used on a stand-alone basis, in systems with more sensor heads or in connection with a PT Teknik thermal manikin. It can also replace old Innova or Lumasense transducers.
It is designed to approximate the thermal properties of a real person. The size and shape of the comfort sensor is chosen to ensure a similar relation between convective heat loss and radiation as a human being, and the difference in magnitude is compensated by the software. Moreover, the dull light grey color of the sensor head is chosen to imitate the radiative absorption of a naked person or a person with a light colored clothing.
The comfort sensor provides a direct measurement of the operative and the equivalent temperature and calculates thermal comfort indices PMV/PPD. Clo values and metabolic rate data can be configured in the software as input for the PMV calculations.
The measurement system includes one or more sensor head(s) and a control box linked to an intuitive and graphical PC software used for setup, data monitoring and logging. The sensor heads can be placed in different angles using the adjustable holder. The sensor heads can also be mounted on an existing rack, for example for replacement of old ‘flatman’ manikins to analyse thermal comfort in cars.
The complete system is delivered in a small briefcase for easy transport.
