The manikin is used by the design and test engineers in the R&D department to develop better thermal comfort in car cabins.

In ISO 14505-2, equivalent temperature is defined as an index to evaluate thermal environment in vehicles. Thermal manikins can measure it directly.

In addition to equivalent temperature, the R&D term also measures thermal parameters such as the heat transfer coefficient and clothing insulation with the thermal manikin.

Recently Nissan and AGC inc. developed a new simulation method of equivalent temperature. The manikin was used as a reference for the development.
